Even before I was writing sports, I enjoyed supporting the local area football teams. Mt. SAC, my alma matter, won earlier today 36-10 over Riverside.

Today is a big night for the Citrus College Fighting Owls. The Owls are playing against the Bakersfield College Renegades. the ‘Gades (3-0) are ranked #2 in the state and have just come off a 63-7 trouncing of Antelope Valley College last week . The game was so lopsided, the score was 42-0 by halftime!

Like I said, a tough test for Citrus Coach Ron Ponciano. The coach told a Citrus College reporter earlier in the year that the team has matured and there’s more talent, especially on the offensive line. After a 36-25 home  win over West LA to open the season in the Central West Conference, the Owls dropped a tough road loss to Canyons last week. The Owls are hoping to get back on track and on the “W” column this week, but they will have to overcome a huge test to do so. If they hope to win, the Owls cannot allow what happened last week to happen to them again when Canyons jumped on them to an early 24-0 lead in the opening quarter.

If you can’t make it out to the stadium, listen to it online, the game will be broadcast live on the internet.
