LA PUENTE – Bassett High School quarterback Robert Rodriguez tossed two touchdown passes and rushed for 33 yards as the Olympians (3-4, 2-2) rebounded from last week’s loss to Azusa for a Montview League victory over Workman on Friday night.

The Lobos (1-6, 0-4) used senior running back Gabriel Fychok as their main weapon. Fychok gained 82 yards on 16 carries but was kept out of the end zone by the rugged Bassett defense.

Rodriguez had touchdown passes of 43 and 28 yards and finished 3 of 5 for 71 yards.

Bassett coach Aubrey Duncan credited his team’s defense for stopping the Lobos in the red zone three times.

“We’re living on our defense,” he said.

The Lobos also had two turnovers.
