Big League Dreams in Chino

Big League Dreams field in Chino Hills

Hello all. Since my duties have been increased a bit at patch, I have decided to resume my updating this blog, even though most of the local coverage I am now doing is centered around the Glendora area, that’s kinda my new beat.

Yesterday I got  a pleasant surprise from the regional editor of the patch telling me that she really liked the work I have been doing and that she was going to have me in charge of their prep sports round-up. What does this mean? More money? More prestige?

Well not exactly, just guarantees that I will have my roundup column appear every Monday on the website where I will be posting local coverage of the teams in the area mostly focusing on Glendora High and on St. Lucy’s.

Speaking of the latter, I trekked to Chino Hills today to watch their girl’s varsity softball team play against the Huskies at Big League Dreams. I didn’t know these fields were a chain, I knew about the West Covina one, but apparently they are everywhere and this one is patterned after Wrigley in Chicago.

As for the game, it didn’t turn out well for them as they fell 10-0, but I am sure that they will try hard on their next time out once again. Chino Hills looks like a pretty solid team, nothing to take away from their victory, but sometimes it takes time for a team to find their groove.

The drive out to the game was not pleasant, the weather has taken a turn and unlike the cold temps we’ve been having of late, they have jumped to more spring-like conditions, it must have felt like 85 close to 90 because my car doesn’t have the best air conditioning.

I am going to be working on my short write up of this game, in the interim, here’s a link to a few of the recent write ups I’ve put together since I started working for patch last fall.
